Legal AI Lead | Melbourne
For the lawyer who'd rather build the tool than write the memo about it
We are a premier Australian commercial law firm, trusted by some of the country's most significant corporations, high-net-worth individuals and family businesses on their most important legal matters. We're known equally for the calibre of our advice and the strength of our relationships, with a close, collegiate culture that's endured as our reputation has grown. We invest seriously in AI tools like Harvey and ChatGPT to enhance the quality, efficiency and value of our legal services, guided by a simple principle: technology should handle the routine, process-driven work, freeing lawyers for the complex, strategic advisory work clients actually engage us for. Technology is adopted thoughtfully, with proper regard for confidentiality, professional responsibility and quality.
The Role
This is a hands-on, technical, individual-contributor role, where you're inside the tools every day making them work. Reporting to our Chief Information Officer, you'll build, configure and embed the AI tools our lawyers rely on day to day, becoming our go-to in-house AI expert: the person partners, lawyers and support staff turn to because you understand both how legal work gets done and how to build something that makes it better.
Key responsibilities
Drive uptake of AI tools (Harvey, ChatGPT, Zoom AI Companion, and emerging platforms) across practice areas and support teams, with a tailored adoption strategy for each
Partner with lawyers and staff to spot high-impact workflow opportunities, and coach teams on prompt engineering, AI agents, and collaborative AI features
Design and deliver training and change management to embed new ways of working firm-wide
Act as the firm's internal AI expert — day-to-day troubleshooting, tracking new tools, and working with Technology, HR, Knowledge and Risk to keep usage compliant and on-standard
About You
A qualified lawyer (or equivalent legal training) who is genuinely exceptional with technology, with hands-on experience in AI tools and prompt engineering (Harvey, ChatGPT, or comparable) — you've actually built something with them
Strong grasp of how legal practice and lawyers' day-to-day work actually operates
A builder's mindset — you'd rather be inside the tool than presenting a strategy about it
Able to translate technical concepts clearly for anyone, from senior partners to support staff
Sound judgement on confidentiality, professional obligations and responsible AI use
Prefers hands-on, individual-contributor work over people leadership, with a genuine curiosity for where legal AI is heading
If you trained as a lawyer but light up more around a technical problem than a legal one, this is a rare seat: hands-on, backed by real investment, inside a firm with the appetite to match.

Trust and Compliance Accountant Prestigious Melbourne CBD Law Firm | Flexible Full-Time or Part-Time
Not every law firm is built the same — and this one isn't your typical one.
A prestigious, Melbourne-based firm led by a diverse group of expert lawyers, our client has built its reputation on strategic outcomes, creative problem-solving, and commercial insight over rigid, old-school process. It's a firm where people are genuinely backed — where questions are welcomed, mistakes are treated as part of learning, and you're never left to figure things out alone.
We're now looking for a Trust & Compliance Coordinator to become the backbone of this firm's trust accounting and compliance function — someone precise, trustworthy, and genuinely good at what they do, who wants to build a career somewhere that will actually invest in them.
About the Role
You'll own the firm's trust and general account transactions — working closely with our lawyers to keep everything accurate, compliant and audit-ready. Day to day:
Manage daily trust and general account transactions to legislative standard, including CMA openings, closures and reconciliations
Process receipting, payments and disbursements with precision
Support trust audits and liaise directly with lawyers on trust matters
Administer the firm's AML/CTF Compliance Program, including client due diligence and record-keeping
About You
Experience in trust and general accounts — law firm background preferred but not essential
Meticulous — details don't slip past you
Communicates clearly and confidently, including with senior lawyers
Open to building knowledge of AML Tranche 2 laws as they roll out
Why This Role Is Worth Your Time
Genuine full-time or part-time (3-4 days) opportunity — this firm is flexible on structure, because quality of work matters more than hours clocked. You'll join a prestigious Melbourne CBD firm with a team that looks out for each other and leadership that's approachable, not hierarchical. If you've worked somewhere that talked about culture but didn't live it — this is the opposite.
